The albums recorded by Serge Gainsbourg between 1958 and 1968 were all originally mixed in mono - in the 1960s, this was the sound norm. To meet changing listening standards, these records were then mixed in stereo. Stereo thus replaced mono, and with each successive reissue, mono disappeared altogether. As a result, it was no longer possible to listen to Serge Gainsbourg's songs as they were originally recorded. Now, thanks to this sublime 180-gram vinyl box set in mono mix, this shortcoming has been remedied. In order to obtain the best sound quality, the original mixed tapes were entrusted to sound engineer Miles Showell (responsible for the reissues of The Rolling Stones, Queen, etc.) who carried out the mastering at Abbey Road Reviews And Ads -, London Macadam, France In London, and L'Echo LTD 9LP SET studios.
