In 2010, the French edition of Rolling Stone magazine designated this album as the 28th greatest French rock album... Considered the "other" masterpiece in Serge Gainsbourg's discography, with "Histoire De Melody Nelson", "The Cabbage-Headed Man" - a concept album about a forty-year-old man who falls in love with a rather free-spirited shampooer - had not yet revealed all its secrets - so far ! Nearly 45 years after its release, the rediscovery of the multi-track tapes recorded in London during the summer of 1976 confirms that behind Gainsbourg's virtuoso speech hid an extraordinary musical edifice. The new mix of this 2023 edition rebalances the vocal and instrumental parts while retaining the original intention.
The double LP vinyl edition contains the album with the 2023 mix on the first vinyl disc and the musical version plus 4 alternate vocal takes (Transit À Marilou, Ma Lou Marilou, Meurtre À l'extinguisher, Lunatic Asylum) on the second disc vinyl. This album is also accompanied by a 20-page booklet describing the genesis of the album.
